Grand Re-Opening at Alpena’s Great Lakes Divers!
On Saturday, May 2, Great Lakes Divers will celebrate new ownership and their recently remodeled showroom with a grand re-opening from 10 am to 3 pm. The community is invited to enjoy a complimentary hotdog and cake while checking out the latest swimming, snorkeling and diving equipment. Sign up for scuba or skin diving classes, dive charters and register for some great prizes to be given away. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 1 with the Alpena Chamber Ambassadors.
Great Lakes Divers, established in Rogers City in 1976, is Northeast Michigan’s oldest operating dive shop. In 2012, the Alpena branch was opened across from the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Maritime Heritage Center. Nick Myers has managed the shop since its opening and took over ownership of the business in January of this year. The shop offers gear, instruction and repair for swimming, snorkeling, free diving and scuba diving, as well as charters and trips for all levels.
