St Clair River Drift

Drift Dive the St. Clair River August 6, 2017
Who said Michigan diving can’t be breathtaking?

Join us for a drift dive down the St. Clair River in Port Huron, Michigan. If you haven’t had a chance to do this dive it will take your breath away. Drifting the river at an average speed of 4.5 knots, dodging old pilings and watching a variety of fresh water fish – amazing!

Divers will need moderate dive skills and should be capable of being somewhat self sufficient. We will dive in buddy groups of two divers per group. Entry will be giant stride from the seawall, approximately a five foot drop. Exits will be either a shore or ladder exit. In the event of ladder exit we will have shore help with gear handling assistance if needed.

We will plan on making two dives on Saturday and then one on Sunday morning. Saturday morning dive will start at 11:00AM, which means we should be assembled at Pine Grove Park by 10:30AM. I plan on having a snack between dives, maybe you too can bring munchies to share. Dive briefings will include preferred entry and exit spots, river navigational tips, and equipment tips.

Remember that a PADI DRIFT DIVER specialty only requires two dives and some academic info, all of which can be accomplished during a drift dive weekend.

Thanks,
Mike
