Torpedo Alley – WWII Wrecks

Hi Divers,
There is still time to sign up for some awesome Atlantic diving. In early May we are taking a long week-end and diving off the N. Carolina coast on some of the wrecks there. We have enjoyed this before, with the warm Gulf Stream bringing waters up in the mid-60’s from top to bottom that time of year. While we claim to be wreck diving, the number of fish is staggering; everything from clouds of 4″ baitfish to Sand Tigers and other types of sharks.
Most dives are about 90′-100′ so you do need some experience, but the diving is easy with the down lines and Safety Stop system they have. The boat is large and doesn’t bob and weave much, they even have an anti-roll system they can deploy while anchored for the boat. Lots of comfortable seats, spacious dive deck, and even a kitchen make this a great boat to cruise on. In the past we even rode on the roof coming back in if the seas are nice.
Most of us are diving May 9, 10, & 11, (Saturday, Sunday & Monday) and then starting our drive home once we are off the boat, finishing our trip home on Tuesday. Many of us are carpooling from the shop and leaving Thursday after work, arriving Friday afternoon. It is possible to dive just Sunday and Saturday and start home.
Hotels are available, but there is room left in the dive loft across the street from the shop. Rates are $130/day for the boat fees and $30/night if you wish to use the dive loft.
Start this season right and join us for diving as we explore some history and enjoy the Outer Banks area.

Thanks,
Mike
